Now that may sound like I’m throwing in a humble brag, but really it’s just to say how long this game kept me entertained. I must have spent weeks worth of playing time across different platforms on Modern Warfare 2, hitting top prestige on multiple accounts. Oh, and they pushed boundaries by adding in ‘No Russian’ which was a ballsy move, and one that added to the narrative by letting you know first hand just how evil Makarov actually was. What a campaign it was and I’ve not been engrossed by a single player story from a Call of Duty anywhere close to as much as I did in Modern Warfare 2. Not to mention the absolutely horrendous and emotional moment of Ghost being set alight. It housed amazing moments, such as (upcoming spoilers) breaking Price out of the Russian Gulag, sprinting through a Favela unarmed to catch a Helicopter & racing down a mountain on a Ski Mobile, away from russians after ghosting your way through a base. Modern Warfare 2 told the story of 2 soldiers, with different tales of the war against the Russians, and more specifically, Makarov. Now before I start, I will open with the fact that MW2 was in fact my first proper Call of Duty game, so I may look at it with rose tinted nostalgia glasses, and you may disagree, but I’m convinced there’s no better Call of Duty than Modern Warfare 2. Turns out, Modern Warfare 2 is actually the best Call of Duty ever released, and I’m going to tell you why. With recent news of an Amazon listing for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered, it got me thinking about Infinity Wards classic.
